I created this Mi-24 Hind helicopter model using Maya, Substance Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag. The project was developed with a focus on real-time performance for use in simulation and training environments. I designed modular components, including the nose cone and weapon systems, to support the creation of multiple variants, such as the Mi-24P. The modular workflow enables efficient customization and reuse across different helicopter configurations within a simulation engine.
The Mil Mi-24, known by its NATO reporting name "Hind," is a large, heavily armed attack and transport helicopter developed by the Soviet Union and first introduced in the early 1970s. Unique among attack helicopters, the Mi-24 combines firepower with troop-carrying capability, able to transport up to eight fully equipped soldiers in addition to its weapon loadout. It features a tandem cockpit, armored fuselage, and a variety of weapon systems, including machine guns, rockets, and anti-tank guided missiles. The Mi-24 has seen widespread use in conflicts around the world and remains in service with several countries due to its versatility, durability, and combat effectiveness. The Mi-24P variant, in particular, is distinguished by its fixed side-mounted 30mm cannon, enhancing its ground attack capabilities.
